Hey, orb28 girls. Today a coworker sent me
this article about Miley Cyrus's break-up with Nick Jonas. Now, we all know celebrity love affairs and breakups are juicy topics and, well, Miley Cyrus is a celebrity (and a really big one, at that). But something about the coverage of this story felt a little wrong to me; Miley is talking about how she didn't "go public" about her relationship with Nick. But Miley was 12 or 13 when the relationship started. Should we really expect middle-school girls to "go public" with relationships?
I'd love to get your impressions of this article. To me, it felt inappropriate to cover this story as though Miley were in her 20s (or older; that line about "arguing all the time" makes it sound like Miley's been through a divorce), but I'm in my late twenties, not a teen like Miley. Miley is the same age as orb28 members. How do you feel about the type of news coverage she gets? Is it "too mature"? Or does she deserve mature coverage since, as a teen star, she's living and working in a mature world? Please share your thoughts!
