Book Review

Hi, everyone! My name is Marly, and I'm on the orb28 GWEB (Girls Web Editorial Board). I love reading and writing and am a huge fan of the Twilight series, so I'd like to share a book review I wrote last summer of Twilight, the first book in the series.

Book Review: Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

When Bella Swan moves to the green, foggy lowly-populated town of Forks, Washington, she’s sure she’ll never fit in. Surprisingly, exactly the opposite occurs – almost every student in Forks High School wants to be her friend…or boyfriend. It is in this way that Bella meets Edward Cullen. Edward is pale-skinned, with a mesmerizing voice, and has an almost inhumanly perfect appearance. His family, though different-looking, are similar in these aspects, causing them to stand out among the rest of the townspeople of Forks. Bella is attracted to Edward almost instantly. She is intrigued by the aura of mystery that surrounds him – including unexplained superpowers, unexpected mood swings, and the ability to possibly read minds. After saving her from danger a number of times, Edward confesses his dark attraction to Bella. She soon learns that the Cullens are vampires, and though he loves her, a part of Edward thirsts for her blood. Although their relationship is putting them both in the path of danger, Bella isn’t ready to stop loving Edward. Will the only way for them to stay together forever require a sacrifice…one that changes Bella into the bloodthirsty creature he has become?

With the Twilight series, Stephenie Meyer places an ordinary down-to-earth character inside a riveting plot of vampires, werewolves, and myth. Mystery, humor, and fantasy combine to create a suspenseful, captivating romance you’ll never forget.
